Welcome to the State of New York

Often when people think about New York they think of New York City, but there’s another New York beyond the “Big Apple” – it’s New York State and it offers an untold number of experiences.

To the East is Long Island with its stunning beaches and the world famous resort playground of “The Hamptons” where the celebrities and rich go to escape. Just to the north, lies the Hudson Valley, the “new place to be” in the North East of the USA, with its river-hugging towns and fabulous antique shops, art and architectural treasures. Other areas such as the Finger Lakes, America’s largest wine producing region outside California and the spectacle of Niagara Falls one of the seven natural wonders of the world all go together to make up an array of travel opportunities that are a perfect complement to a New York City break.

If you drove from New York City to the Hudson Valley, which is approximately 50 miles in distance, you could visit the beautiful Bear State Mountain Park, or maybe you would like to visit the United States Military Academy at West Point, and take a tour of this historical site. The Hudson Valley region also offers the chance to visit historical homes that belonged to great American families such as the Rockefellers & Vanderbilt’s as well as quaint villages set along the majestic Hudson River.

Long Island to the east of New York city is a 40 mile drive, and you will be able to experience beautiful beaches, family fun parks, including aquariums & zoos, historical sites and of course designer outlets that offer great discounts.

Further upstate in New York is the Capital – Saratoga region where lies the capital of New York State, which is Albany. This region is surrounded by rolling hills and bordered by several mountain chains and is a true wonder to behold. Visit Saratoga which is famous for its mineral springs as well as the world – renowned thoroughbred horse racing, or visit the many museums in the state. You can also visit the Empire State Plaza Observation deck in the state capital which gives you fantastic views of Albany and the Hudson River.

The Adirondacks region is again filled with lush forests, rushing streams and spectacular mountain peaks, and provides the perfect haven for people to experience the outdoor activities which include hiking, bike rides, boat trips and swimming to name a few. This region is also famous for its Olympic village at Lake Placid, a great opportunity to take advantage of some great skiing facilities, or maybe enjoy the beaches and amusement parks in Lake George, and what ever season you visit the Adirondacks, there is always something to enjoy.

Travelling further West in the state of New York, you will find the rich heritage and geological wonders of the Central –Leatherstocking region. This region is rich in history and tradition, offering great Museums, chances to visit and explore underground caverns, maybe you can relax by a sparkling waterfall, or take the family for a picnic in any of the scenic parks. The Finger Lakes region which is approximately 250 miles from New York City has some of the most spectacular gorges and glens in America, and is home to America second largest wine industry. Why not try a scenic wine trail that will be available to you or visit the world renowned museums and art centres throughout the region. Two of the states largest and most interesting cities (Rochester & Syracuse) are in this region and offer great chances to see cultural & historical places of interest. The Finger Lakes region is made up of Six major lakes and Five smaller ones, giving you the chances to experience the regions great scenic beauty as well as having an experience for everyone to remember.
