Among New York’s famous wine-growing regions are the Finger Lakes and Long Island, which both produce unparalleled award-winning wines. The wineries in these regions offer a variety of winter events and wines, including ice wine, a unique dessert-style wine made from frozen grapes harvested throughout the winter season.

Long Island Wine Country is just 70 miles east of New York City, and only a short ferry ride from New England. You can tour more than 30 wineries during the winter with specialties that range from Merlot and Chardonnay, to Cabernet Sauvignon and red blends. From January 15 to March 25, enjoy the Long Island Culture and Wine Winterfest,featuring a myriad of cultural events including concerts, historic tours and art exhibits, as well as discount offers from wineries, restaurants, bed and breakfasts, and local shops. Long Island Wineries offering ice wines include Castello Di Borghese Vineyard & Winery, Corey Creek Vineyards, Jamesport Vineyards, Paumanok Vineyards, Pindar Vineyards, Pugliese Vineyards, Waters Crest Winery and Wölffer Estate.

During the winter freeze, New York’s Finger Lakes Wine Country is still hard at work producing quality wines and harvesting those final frozen grapes for ice wine. Famous for its spectacular winter scenery, the Finger Lakes Region, which includes the Cayuga Lake Wine Trail, Keuka Lake Wine Trail, Canandaigua Wine Trail and Seneca Lake Wine Trail, specializes in the production of sparkling, Riesling, Pinot Noir and ice wines. Discover how each wine trail provides their own distinct winter flavors to be savored through a variety of events featuring dozens of wineries across the Finger Lakes Region.
